Marketing 24/7 Advances to Final Round
in Social Madness Competition
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – July 3, 2012 –Today, Marketing 24/7 advanced to the final round of the Social Madness competition being conducted by the Birmingham Business Journal. The competition started with 30 Birmingham area small businesses and then was reduced to 8 semi-finalists. From there, Marketing 24/7 outperformed other small businesses via its social media savvy to become one of only two companies remaining in the competition as of today.
Social Madness is a national promotion that rates the effectiveness of social media programs of companies, ranking them based on their ability for social engagement and to make new connections on top social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and votes on the Business Journals’ Social Madness website. More than 4,000 companies entered the competition in 43 cities across the country. Marketing 24/7 was is in the country’s top 25% as one of the 1,032 semi-finalists and now is one of only 258 companies remaining in the competition.
On June 19, the competition moved into a “Final Four” tournament-style, bracket mode. The eight Birmingham semi-finalists competed head-to-head and now in the final two weeks of the competition, Marketing 24/7 goes head-to-head with TriNovus.
“It’s been a great challenge to participate in Social Madness” stated Marketing 24/7 CEO, Ruwena Healy. “We not only improved our company’s social profile, we were also able to showcase our social media savvy to Business Journal readers throughout the country as well as gain expertise and insight into social media best practices for businesses.”
From the outset, Marketing 24/7 worked diligently to create engaging content for its followers. Healy says, “We developed six blog articles and two in particular offered 20 LinkedIn tips. One of the LinkedIn articles was published national by Biz Journals on the Social Madness website and blog. Additionally, we answered social media questions that our followers posted and we had fun by posting trivia and business-related questions.”
Healy stated that her company’s social media presence and online brand had grown tremendously as a result of the competition. “Marketing 24/7’s Twitter followers grew by 601% and Facebook followers increased by 335%, and LinkedIn company followers grew 281% during the month of June.”
If Marketing 24/7 is selected as the Birmingham winner, it will compete with small businesses in 42 other cities across the country starting July 24. When the national winners are announced September 11, a $10,000 charitable donation will be made on behalf of the three category winners. Healy is a supporter of organ donation and plans to make her donation to the liver transplant department at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
